We’ve been spending a lot of time at home in recent weeks. But that doesn’t mean we can’t sing! At least, that’s the approach of New York composer, Lisa Bielawa.
Concert Singers is pleased to have been a featured guest group in the latest chapter of Lisa’s ongoing composition, Broadcast from Home. The composition is a large-scale work using musical and artistic contributions from people all over the world who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Testimonies detailing people’s experiences provide texts for musical lines phrases composed by Lisa. The phrases are recorded by singers and instrumental players all over the world, individually, at home, and then assembled by Lisa into a newly composed chapter each week. Broadcast from Home is a collected record of our shared experience on a weekly basis.
Members of Concert Singers joined in the creation of Chapter 10, “The City is Not the Same.” You can listen to all the chapters and read the testimonies on Lisa’s website.
