Our performance this Saturday includes works that share themes of exploration and improvisation, but offer widely different musical styles.
You’ll hear a composition based on the lost continent of Atlantis (in an imaginary language), a piece drawn from ancient Indian spirituality, a modern work celebrating the spirit of human endeavor, and a classical piece widely viewed as the “prequel” to the famous Ode to Joy.
* Gustav Holst –Hymns to the Rig Veda
* Vaughan Williams – Toward the Unknown Region
* William Grant Still – From a Lost Continent
* Ludwig van Beethoven – Choral Fantasy, Allen Bailey, soloist
