Kathryn was chosen from recent applicants to receive a $1,000 scholarship award. Kate will be studying Music Education at Appalachian State University in the Fall. Kate is an accomplished classical vocalist (opera), performer, choral member, and musician. She plays seven instruments. Kate’s application won over the Concert Singers selection panel with her heartfelt statements like this one. “There is nothing more connecting and intimate than singing with or for another.”
A recent graduate of Apex Friendship High School, Sam Wanamaker, the choral director there, described Kate. “She is one of the most dedicated students I have had the pleasure of teaching. She loves to teach and sing and does both with ease.”
Concert Singers of Cary offers an annual scholarship in memory of its co-founder Fuller S. Blunt. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating North Carolina high school senior who has been accepted and is entering a college or university as a Music major.
