From our Executive Director: Transitions and Connections

Transitions are exciting and challenging in equal measure. CSC has been successful in our transition of artistic leadership from founding Director Larry Speakman to Dr. Nathan Leaf. As our 29th Season begins, we acknowledge the friends who have supported us during the leadership transition and look forward to another year together. Your continued support enabled us to continue to present a repertoire which with a wide variety of styles and genres. Your continued support allowed us to again award a scholarship to a talented and deserving student planning to study music in college. Your continued support enabled us to produce the first annual Discovery Series Concert, which grew from audience interest in learning more about our music. Your continued support provided funding for our collaborations with other artists that enhanced our performances and we thank you.
The theme for our exciting 29th Season is Connections. Music provides a means of connections between groups of diverse people through singing together or listening to live performance. Outstanding choral music can satisfy our need for connection with others and inspire us to reach for greater beauty in the world. CSC’s mission is to delight and inspire our audiences and create exceptional performance opportunities for our membership. The new season of Connections will do just that. Please join us!

We begin the season performing with the NC Symphony for a program called Video Games Live. Our first fall concert will be at the Cary Arts Center and include the Mallarmé Chamber Players in Music of Light and Love. Our annual Holiday Pops concert in December is tradition for families not to be missed! In the spring, CSC joins Hum Sub, Cary’s Indian-American cultural arts association, in the their annual spring celebration of Basant Bahar. Our final concert is the Second Annual Discovery Series, exploring the music of Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Confessore with both in a interactive lecture and performance presentation in a collaborative educational performance with Mallarmé Chamber Players. Finally, our annual Cary Big Sing in February has become so popular that we are moving to a larger space in 2020, and invite you to visit us and sing along for the evening.

As we begin the new season we appreciate your support through our transition and invite you to join us as we celebrate another year of outstanding choral music. We look forward to another season of creating Connections within our community.
