We are thrilled to announce Concert Singers of Cary’s 2026–27 season, marking our 36th year of bringing engaging and inspiring choral music to the Triangle community. This season features four distinct programs spanning American folk tunes, classical masterworks, jazzy holiday favorites, African American spirituals, contemporary pieces and more.
Here’s a preview of our upcoming performances, with some “behind the scenes” insights from CSC’s Co-Artistic Directors, Lindsey Bruner Woodcock and Mark Woodcock.
To Be Sung on the Water
November 6, 2026
Water has long served as one of music’s most evocative symbols. Our opening concert explores how rivers and seas reflect humanity’s deepest longings—for spiritual connection and redemption, a weary traveler’s yearning for home, an enslaved people’s wish for freedom and identity, and the fragile beauty of love.
Artistic Director Mark Woodcock: “This music speaks directly to what we yearn for and what sustains us. And because we also want to highlight the vital importance of protecting our local waterways, proceeds from this concert will benefit the nonprofit Friends of the Wake County Soil and Water Conservation District.”
Holiday Pops
December 8, 2026
We’re kicking off the festive season with a swing! CSC singers team up with the Hillsborough Street Jazz Trio to perform music from A Charlie Brown Christmas. This Emmy® Award–winning classic pairs vibrant jazz arrangements of traditional holiday tunes with instantly recognizable original compositions that are fun for the whole family.
Artistic Director Lindsey Bruner Woodcock: The music of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is so iconic, and brings holiday nostalgia to so many of us. Hillsborough Street Jazz trio will perform favorites from that Vince Guaraldi soundtrack, as well as covers of other holiday favorites. HSJT specializes in “jazzifying” songs from all different genres, and I can’t wait to find out what they’ve selected this year and what unique twists they’ve added!
Brother Sun, Sister Moon
January 27, 2027
Coinciding with a spectacular Supermoon, this intimate program by the CSC Chamber Choir looks upward to our celestial neighbor. The concert also features Canticle of the Sun, a striking contemporary work from the Estonian composer Tonu Korvits.
Artistic Director Mark Woodcock: “This program is really about experiencing the daily cycle from day to night. The music takes us from the dazzling heat of the sun into the cool contemplation of the moon.”
Grant Us Peace
May 8, 2027
For centuries, the phrase Dona Nobis Pacem (“Grant Us Peace”) has served as a universal plea across musical traditions. To close our season, CSC joins forces with Mallarmé Music to present Ralph Vaughan Williams’ powerful cantata Dona Nobis Pacem. Having witnessed the horrors of World War I firsthand, Vaughan Williams crafted this sweeping work in 1936 as a poignant appeal for peace as the world stood on the brink of another global conflict.
Artistic Director Lindsey Bruner Woodcock: The texts in this piece, especially the Walt Whitman, are devastating and beautiful and wonderful. Vaughan Williams is one of those composers who knew how to set poetry to music so masterfully. I know for certain that there are moments in this piece that are so perfectly profound that they will stick with you forever.
