“Choose Something Like a Star” will be a celebration in honor of Lawrence Speakman, our co-founder and long term Artistic Director who is retiring after 26 years. Larry has enjoyed a long and successful career as choral and orchestral conductor, professional singer, church musician and private voice teacher. The CSC membership and community extend sincere congratulations and best wishes in his new endeavors (musical and otherwise) in South Carolina.
Our gala celebrating Larry’s accomplishments with CSC will take place at the Cary Arts Center on October 28, 2017 starting at 6:00 pm. Master of Ceremonies: Maestro William Henry Curry!
The Symphonic Choir will perform Randall Thompson’s Frostiana conducted by Lawrence Speakman, reprising the first-ever performance of the CSC in 1991. Alumni choir members will return to sing a commemorative piece as a tribute to Larry and Ingrid Speakman, conducted by our new artistic director Dr. Nathan Leaf. There will also be a video compilation of memories and achievements of the choir over the years, a festive catered reception, and a silent auction. We hope you can join us!
