We’re seeking an Executive Director

Position Summary

Now in our 25th season, The Concert Singers of Cary seeks a passionate, energetic business leader who is responsible for the overall administration and management of this group of over 100 volunteer singers. Reporting to the Board of Trustees and in partnership with the Artistic Director, and Membership Administrator, the new Executive Director will help the Concert Singers continue its tradition of compelling programming, exceptional artistry and commitment to music.

Primary areas of responsibility include fundraising and development, financial management, budget development,administration, and staff and volunteer supervision. This is a part-time contracted position projected to average 15 hours per week. The members of the Board, other choir members and/or the Artistic Director provide necessary assistance to the Executive Director in all facets of Concert Singers management.

Responsibilities
Financial Management/Development
  • Develop/ manage budget, income, expenses, financial projections, investment account and annual auditing process. Supervision of Bookkeeper.
  • Responsible for licenses, contractual arrangements, royalty reports/payment, etc. Responsible for all grant writing opportunities and presentations.

  • Logistics and Properties
  • Responsible for securing facilities and equipment/storage arrangements for concerts, rehearsals, meeting as needed, concert recordings, sheet music purchasing and inventory management, concert site coordination and oversight of concert sales tables.
  • Maintain and check virtual phone message line (919-249-6421)

  • Publicity/Marketing/Public Relations
  • Approve the content of all Publicity, Marketing, and Public Relations that are under the control of The Concert Singers of Cary, including websites, marketing emails, Facebook page, printed materials. Manage and implement all marketing plans, utilizing these efforts.
  • Prepare annual season brochure and annual concert program for printing and mailing. Develop sales kit for program ads

  • Technology/Web site
  • Responsible for design and content of the CSC website using qualified volunteer/contracted Webmaster
  • Maintain organizational calendar; also update website calendars at The News and Observer, Triangle Sings, Classical Voice NC, Heart of Cary Association, and any other appropriate outlet.

  • Liaison and Representation
  • Ad hoc member of Board, other committees, and task forces as assigned by the board
  • Join Artistic Director in representing CSC at grant awards, community groups, etc. Work directly with Town of Cary staff.

  • General Duties
  • Assist Committee for annual Fuller Blunt Memorial Scholarship as needed
  • Work with Artistic Director, President to agree on Board agenda, priorities, Board action Assisting committees in other roles as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by The Board of Directors


  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required; Master’s degree in relevant field is a plus as is coursework, workshops and seminars in nonprofit arts administration
  • Proven success in managing and implementing successful fund raising efforts
  • Excellent financial and budgetary management skills
  • Relevant experience in nonprofit management, preferably classical music
  • Excellent written skills as well as oral presentation skills
  • Tech savvy with mastery of MS Office software
