Our next performance, Songs, Sonnets and Touches of Sweet Harmony, will be on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 8:00pm at the Cary Arts Center Theater.

If you like the idea of hearing William Shakespeare’s words in a completely different way, this concert is for you!

This performance will feature an eclectic mix of musical settings for selected Shakespeare texts. Here are a few highlights:

  • Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music is a tender meditation on music and its power to delight, using text from The Merchant of Venice. It is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and inspired of all settings of Shakespeare.
  • The humorous elements of Shakespeare will be explored in short, witty, and lush settings by Scandinavian composer, Sven-Eric Johanson.
  • We’ll offer seven fresh and exciting pieces by jazz piano legend George Shearing. He composed over 300 titles mixing swing, bop and classical musical influences, and was an award-winning performer (including two Grammy’s with Mel Torme.)

We hope you’ll join us for the May 10 concert! Tickets are on sale now, at $20 for adults and $5 for minors up to 17 years old. For the health and safety of all, concert attendees will be required to wear masks during the performance, and singers and musicians will be masked as well. Proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test will NOT be required.
