“Where do we go from here? This isn’t where we intended to be…”

Some version of these lyrics from the 1996 movie version of Evita have been bouncing around the minds of almost everyone during these last months. Despite all the best laid plans, we find ourselves in a place that we did not choose, on a path that we would not choose, making our way through an unfamiliar fog.

So, what to do? Concert Singers, aware of the temporary limitations of our present circumstances and the many things we cannot do, is focusing on what we CAN do.

What can we do? As it turns out, quite a bit.

This fall, Concert Singers is gearing up for two big projects.

  • We will be a part of NC State’s Brickyard Broadcast, a newly commissioned work designed specifically for this time, and utilizing the iconic outdoor Brickyard as the site for a virtual reality musical simulation.
  • We will celebrate the holidays with a live stream Virtual Holiday Pops: On the Town with Concert Singers of Cary, on December 12, 2020.

The details of each project will depend upon the conditions at the time. The choir will be having regular meetings on Monday evenings, though not in person until we know it is safe to do so. Sometime we will sing online. Other times we may be outdoors, or even singing in our cars. While we know we will not be performing for live audiences during the rest of 2020, we have found that keeping music as a part of our regular lives is important…and we are learning and discovering new ways to keep doing just that!

Be safe, be well, and keep a song in your heart. The journey continues. We are excited to see where we end up.
