2012-2013 Season — Our 22nd!
This season is filled with engaging, exciting concerts. No matter what your musical tastes, you’ll find something to like: contemporary American compositions, classical pieces, holiday carols, etc. and all performed in the beautiful venues of the Cary Arts Center and Koka Booth Amphitheatre.

Landscapes of American Music and Poetry

Cary Arts Center
The first program of the 22nd Season will feature works by renowned American composers Samuel Barber,William Averitt, Libby Larsen, Rene Clausen and John Corigliano. Their works will showcase the poetry of Langston Hughes, Emily Dickenson, Dylan Thomas, James Agee and Louise Bogan. In addition there will be arrangements from Craig Hella Johnson, the most extraordinary conductor of the Grammy nominated group Conspirare, of contemporary songs by popular artists Annie Lennox and Carly Simon. The program theme, the connection of nature and its landscapes to music , becomes obvious in both the titles and the visions evoked through the music pieces. The concert features both the 125 voice Concert Singers of Cary Symphonic Choir and the 34 voice Chamber Choir as well as utilizes a professional Chamber Orchestra and soloists. The audience experience will be further enhanced through the viewing of landscapes which will be projected on a large screen during the performance of its corresponding music . A beautiful mix of nature and music!

Come enjoy a truly stellar concert as the 70 voice Concert Singers of Cary Chorale partners with the professional Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle under the direction of Lorenzo Muti. Maestro Muti , a native of Spoleto, Italy, has guest conducted in London, Rome, the Netherlands and at the Washington Opera. Hear Franz Schubert’s Mass that took him six years to finalize and has been described as “inspiring affection….richly adorned with musical imagery, motif and a piquant, harmonic touch”. Listening to Samuel Barber’s ten minutes of “A Hand of Bridge” – two couple’s thoughts fantasizing while they wait their turn at bridge – may change your bridge game forever!
